Plans submitted for a seven storey building with 126 apartments, restaurant, gym and pool on Sanvey Gate, Leicester.

The land currently stores machinery used for earth-moving equipment and vehicles. Mitchian Group Ltd. wants to build there. Most of the land is empty now, although there is a brick building on the site that Mitchian Group wants to tear down.
Original plans were for eight stories and 148 apartments, mostly one-bedroom units. They also planned for three retail spaces. The city council suggested changes, resulting in the building being seven stories tall.
Planners wanted a better mix of apartments. Now, there are 61 one-bedroom units and 65 two-bedroom units. This change happened at the planner’s request, addressing their initial concerns.
Planners worried about empty retail spaces. So, only one restaurant is planned, located on the ground floor. The developer says they have tenants ready for this space.
Residents will have access to a gym and pool on the ground floor. They also get a lounge and roof terrace. Old Mill Lane will become wider, improving road safety nearby. Cars will enter from Sanvey Gate.
The plan includes 36 parking spaces for cars and a loading area for deliveries. There will be 68 spaces just for bikes, promoting alternative transportation.
The developer believes the land is misused now. They think their plan improves the area, bringing new housing and amenities.
You can view the plans online and comment until March 25. The council plans to decide by May 7.
