Chatteris Leisure Centre could get a new four-lane, 25-meter pool as part of a larger leisure improvement scheme.
Freedom Leisure runs the center. This is part of a bigger plan. They want better leisure places and happier customers.
The council shared pool details. It will be 25 meters long with changing rooms for swimmers only. Everyone can swim there including babies, and swim clubs could use it.
The center needs some fixing too. They might spend about £50,000. New carpets are planned, and they will fix showers and floors. The dance studio gets new floors, and more AC is coming to the dance space. The gym will have fresh paint.
Running the pool will cost money. Estimates are £106,823 each year. Building should start in 2026 and should end in 2027.
Other towns could see changes. Whittlesey might lose its sports hall. Wisbech could get tennis courts, and March looks to improve its leisure center.
The council will talk about this soon. The meeting is on Monday, February 24th.
