Severe delays near Gatwick Airport due to a four car crash on the M23. Diversion route now in effect.

The closure starts at junction 9 and ends at junction 10. You have to get off the M23 at junction 9, following signs with diamond symbols, which will take you on a detour.
First, exit at junction 9 for Gatwick Spur and take the second exit; this leads to junction 9A. At the roundabout, take the second exit towards North Terminal and Redhill.
At the next roundabout, use the fourth exit to get on the A23 London Road, heading towards Crawley and Redhill. At Longbridge roundabout, again take the fourth exit, putting you back on the A23 going east.
Stay on the A23 for about four miles until you reach Tushmore Gyratory, which connects with the A2011 and A2219. Then, take the first exit onto the A2011 and continue to rejoin the M23 at junction 10.
Consider this detour when planning your trip, especially if you’re going to Gatwick. Other drivers might want to change their route or even delay their travel.
The traffic jam is long, backing up to junction 8 (M25), and affecting Godstone and East Grinstead. Delays are roughly 50 minutes right now.
Police, fire, and ambulance crews are assisting those hurt in the crash, with one person receiving medical care. Police say the road will stay shut for quite a while, so avoid that area if possible.
