The AC Hotel by Marriott Glasgow is on George Street. They are spending millions to fix up the Hall. The developers think it will improve the hotel, which is becoming quite popular in Scotland.
They plan to fix the Collectors Hall carefully, aiming to keep its old features. It will fit 120 seated or 200 standing guests. People can use it for various events like weddings, charity events, exhibits, and parties. It will also be ready for private dinners.
The venue will have its own entrance on George Street. A courtyard with a bar is planned, along with a private dining area. They expect to host over 200 events each year, which should create about 20 to 30 new jobs.
The Collectors Hall was once a place for needy Glaswegians. They could get church help there in the early 1900s.
The hotel’s general manager, Craig Munro, sounds excited. He thinks it’s a unique space with Glasgow history, and they are bringing it back as a top venue. Corporate events, weddings, and movie premieres can happen there due to its distinct heritage. Plus, there’s fancy hotel lodging right there.
The hotel wants to protect Glasgow’s past. This project will celebrate that heritage and is more than just an event space. They aim for a top-notch place for everyone, drawing people for everything from weddings to corporate events.
Chef John-Paul Giraud is creating a new kitchen, ensuring guests will enjoy amazing food. They are working with Glasgow Life to help promote the city internationally. They want big international events to come and boost Glasgow as a tourism spot.
Munro sees this as a chance for both the hotel and Glasgow. A historic venue with luxury lodging is special and makes Glasgow better for huge events. This improves Glasgow’s global attraction. The Chris Stewart Group, the developers of Love Loan, are already working on it.
