City plans junction changes costing over £1 million, raising concerns it may worsen pedestrian and biker issues.

Some pavements will get bigger, which shrinks the space for cars and affects the area near the Marriott Hotel. Other spots get new planters that will guide walkers, who will then use a narrower crossing.
The crossing from fountains to Denmark Street gets crowded because many people need to cross there, and the space is often too small. So, people step into the road when the crossing is full.
The city won’t make the walkway bigger, but instead, they will add plants that should stop people from walking onto the road early. A council member thinks this could make things worse.
Adam Crowther spoke about the plans, saying they looked at many options. He thinks the solution isn’t perfect because the space is limited and many things happen in that area. Plants will deter early road crossing.
