An 11 year old boy was stabbed in the neck at St Finian’s in Dublin. A 12 year old carried out the attack.

Emergency services went to the school quickly. Reports said a young boy had been stabbed there. The incident happened on March 4.
It happened at St Finian’s National School. This school is in Finglas, Dublin. Another child, aged twelve, stabbed him in the neck.
The police (Garda) made an official statement. They said they went to the scene fast. Thankfully, the boy is getting treated. His injuries should not be deadly.
Police officers responded to an incident earlier today. This event was at a primary school in North Dublin. Two children from the school were involved. One boy went to a Dublin area hospital. His injuries seem non-life threatening.
The Garda are talking to both children’s parents. They are working with the school. They wish to find out what exactly happened.
The police will continue to work with all relevant State agencies. This will help them deal with the incident properly. The Garda say the public is not in danger.
The attacker is twelve, and the victim is eleven. A child under twelve cannot be charged. This rule comes from The Children’s Act 2001. It is under Sections 52 and 53.
Despite the awful attack, the boy’s injuries are not deadly. A local politician, Dessie Ellis, reacted. He said he was shocked by the stabbing and called it a very sad event. He said it felt like a new low.
He feels very sorry for the injured child and also has sympathy for the child’s family. He thinks schools should be safe places. What was used to stab the boy is unknown. It might have even been a homemade weapon. Schools have to protect students, he said.
