Parents express distress, students fear, after a stabbing incident at St Finian’s school in Finglas.

An eleven-year-old boy went to the hospital because of injuries from the stabbing. Another child was involved, but his injury isn’t life-threatening. The school called the parents and told them to get their kids.
One mom cried, feeling upset collecting her child. A boy said he felt scared until his dad picked him up, and then he felt safe again.
A local worker nearby felt shocked about the incident and said everyone feels shocked too. The kids looked bewildered leaving school, and she thinks the event is awful.
Dessie Ellis, a local TD, called the attack horrific and expressed his sorrow for the boy and his family. He added that schools should feel safe. He doesn’t know what weapon they used, suggesting it might be a knife or something else made up.
He also stated he thinks this is a new low and schools must protect children. Police are checking into the incident and talking to the school and both families involved.
Police went to a school in North Dublin where two kids fought. One boy was then sent to a Dublin hospital, but his injuries are not deadly. Police are talking to both kids’ parents there as well.
Police are working with St. Finian’s school to establish the cause of the stabbing. Police will then talk to state agencies, emphasizing there is no danger to the public.
