Tank created a tool to check train delays. It’s called the Commuter Delays Calculator. It uses official rail data. The data spans from July to December 2024. It covers 660 journeys between 50 stations.

The tool shows delay chances for train routes. The Huddersfield to Leeds route is problematic, and is among the worst in the UK, based on this data.

Trains from Huddersfield to Leeds faced issues. Over 22% were delayed more than five minutes, and over 11% were cancelled. Morley to Leeds also had problems. About 23% faced delays, with around 11% cancelled.

Dewsbury to Leeds saw about 19% delayed, with almost 10% cancelled. York to Leeds faced over 26% delays, while around 5% were cancelled. Knaresborough to Leeds had over 27% delayed.

Northern apologized for poor train performance, stating it wasn’t good enough. According to Northern, they understand its impact on customers. They are fixing train crew issues, and want to improve reliability.

They secured a new rest-day agreement for drivers. An offer to conductors was rejected; this offer aimed to improve Sunday service. Northern will work with the RMT union and seek a new agreement, aiming to improve performance.
