Air cadets received recognition for heroic actions. They helped a man who had a heart attack. This happened at a Remembrance Day service.

Featherstone’s mayor and mayoress, Dwain Longley and Tracey Austin, were honored. Flight Lieutenant Luke Harvey also received an award. The Royal Humane Society gave the awards. They acknowledged their rescue efforts.

Rudy Foo collapsed at Wakefield Cathedral last November. He went into cardiac arrest. Dwain and Tracey, paramedics, helped him. They did resuscitation until paramedics arrived.

Luke Harvey created a barrier with air cadets. They provided privacy around Mr. Foo. This happened as he received treatment.

Wakefield’s Mayor, Darren Byford, hopes for more CPR training. He wants people to learn about defibrillators too. He gave awards to Dwain, Tracey, and Luke at the Town Hall. The cadets received certificates too.

Darren Byford said the man fully recovered. He credited Dwain, Tracey, and Luke for their quick actions. He added resuscitation skills can save lives. He thanked everyone who helped that day.

Dwain said he was in the right place. He used his CPR skills to help the man. He stated a cardiac arrest can happen to anyone. Quick action improves survival chances. Dwain is happy the man fully recovered.

Luke stated they teach cadets first aid skills. He tells them they may need it anytime. The cathedral incident showed that was true. He is proud of how the cadets helped. They protected the man’s privacy. They acted with dignity and assisted in a creditworthy manner.
