Renewal of the Glovers Walk site envisions a modern transport hub for Yeovil, similar to Taunton’s planned upgrades.

To minimize service problems, the bus station will stay open during demolition. The council plans to upgrade the station, mirroring a hub coming to Taunton soon. Taunton will get a transport hub in its town center.
The old Taunton bus station shut down in 2020 after working for 67 years. It was too costly to keep open, but the council later bought the site. They will hire someone for the new hub, which the government provides funds for.
Taunton’s hub will have many features, including bus and coach interchanges and electric vehicle chargers. Waiting areas will be new and improved, along with bike storage and repair spots. E-scooter facilities and taxi spots are coming, and it connects to walking and cycling routes.
Officials want a similar hub for Yeovil. The council discussed this plan earlier this year and brought it up in a meeting.
The council wants to improve three towns, including Yeovil and Bridgwater. They discussed this commitment for improvement.
The council aims to boost evening bus trips and are considering local service options. To reduce city traffic and let buses move faster, they will improve traffic signals for buses.
The council will work with the Glovers Walk team. They will study the hub’s feasibility, which will help the council decide.
This new hub will take more than a year. Although funding from the government is only for one year, they are expecting a multi-year plan from the government to start in 2026.
