A woman stabbed her husband and a child, then tried to blame the man. She has now been jailed for her actions.

Jacqueline Mounsey was arrested after police received a call reporting stabbings at a Carlisle address. Upon arrival, police found three people with stab wounds, including a child. The man went to a neighbor’s for help, claiming Mounsey stabbed him while he slept. Police found he had a neck wound.
Mounsey, 53 years old, and the child were also injured. They found the child stabbed in the neck twice. An air ambulance transported the child to a hospital, while Mounsey, with neck and thigh wounds, went to the same hospital.
Cumbria Police reported that the child initially blamed the man for the injuries, claiming he hurt both them and Mounsey. Consequently, police arrested both Mounsey and the man. During her interview, Mounsey mostly responded with “no comment.”
However, Mounsey later admitted she “did it,” and this confession was filmed. Following this admission, police released the man without charges. The court found Mounsey guilty after a ten-day trial, convicting her of grievous bodily harm with intent.
She was sentenced to eighteen years in prison, with a requirement to serve at least twelve years. Detective Constable Louise Telford investigated the case, with Detective Inspector Matthew Belshaw serving as a senior officer.
Belshaw stated the incident was tragic, emphasizing that Mounsey attacked the man and child and attempted to blame the man for everything. She even manipulated the child into blaming him. He said this will affect everyone involved and acknowledged the lasting impact on the victims and the local community.
