Coastguard rescued a woman near Auchencairn, Dumfries and Galloway, after she tried to save sheep from a cliff edge.

Six coastguard teams and Kippford RNLI assisted. They faced big waves, and the sea was difficult that day. A helicopter lifted the woman to safety, allowing other teams to stop their work.
This event occurred at Balcary Point, east of Kirkcudbright. The woman thought she could rescue the sheep alone, according to Stewart Bryden of HM Coastguard.
She became stranded and needed rescue services. Kippford RNLI responded; it was their first call, initially hearing someone fell. The woman was okay, and rescuers comforted her.
The coastguard team also used a helicopter, having considered a rope rescue as well. Mitch Panteli leads Kippford RNLI. Rescue groups worked very well together and train often, leading to success through their teamwork.
HM Coastguard gave a warning: don’t risk your life for animals. Contact the Coastguard instead and seek their guidance first.
RNLI Lifeguards Scotland wants new members who must pass fitness tests. The tests include swimming 400m fast and running 200m on sand quickly.
Lee Fisher manages lifeguard experience, noting that lifeguarding changes lives. It is rewarding to work at the beach, and both teenagers and seniors can join. They must meet rules and be over 16. Lifeguards gain helpful skills and can build careers.
