A woman received a fine recently because she did not move a chalet that stood in a protected landscape area.

Natalie Michaeler Jones admitted her guilt at the hearing at Caernarfon Justice Centre; Anglesey Council shared this information, which happened on Wednesday, February 12. The chalet lacked proper planning permission and sat southwest of Coeden, Mynydd Mechell, Amlwch.

The council served Jones, whose address is Henthorne Road, Wirral, a notice that took effect April 7, 2024. She had until June 7, 2024, to stop using the land, remove the chalet, dig up the track, and remove related materials. Jones did not appeal the order, and said she would comply on June 12, 2024.

The council stated she waited for better weather; they gave her an extension to July 21, 2024, but no action occurred and they got no reply. The council prosecuted her because the chalet sat in open countryside, and was still there February 10. They felt prosecution was needed to ensure compliance with the rules.

Jones said she tried to sell the caravan since July and asked a contractor for help, too. She claimed weather delayed the move, as this would protect a farmer’s field.

Jones stated she always intended to comply, but the court ordered a fine of £400, a £160 surcharge, and prosecution costs totaling £431.20; her total bill came to £991.20.
