A paramedic, Alexandra Keogh, saw the woman’s body and noticed odd bruises on her neck and arm, along with dried blood near her mouth, and attempted to save her life by performing chest compressions.
The prosecutor spoke to the jury, sharing the paramedic’s testimony that Clark didn’t want to explain the bruises and only mentioned she had fallen, noting that Clark has been diagnosed with low intellect.
The prosecutor compared two accounts, pointing out that while Clark said he moved her by the neck, another paramedic, Alex Latham, saw him pick her up differently by the legs and head days before her death.
A pathologist, Dr. Simon Poole, also gave evidence, stating that he found neck compression and that the bruising could not have been accidental, with fractures on the front of her neck unlikely caused by falls.
The prosecutor stated that there’s only one conclusion: only one person could have done this, arguing that there was only one way it happened.
Clark admitted shoving Ursula, throwing a water bottle at her, and cutting her favorite trainers, and the court heard that this violent behavior, including shouting names at her, lasted for years.
The prosecutor asked the jury what caused the injuries, suggesting punching and strangling, not a fall, and added to remember the woman’s frailty, noting that regret cannot erase blame for her death.
Clark denies the murder charge, and the trial continues with Judge Baumgartner, with the defense lawyer expected to give his closing statement on Monday.
