Police in Wales are still trying to ID a dead man. They found him last year in a cold reservoir. This reservoir is near Rhayader in Powys. The date of discovery was Friday, October 18.

Someone walking spotted a body in the water just before 8:30 AM. The man was in a black wetsuit and likely between 30 and 60 years old. He stood about six feet tall.

Investigators think the body was there for months, possibly since summer. The body was badly decomposed and tests did not reveal who the man was.

Detective Inspector Ponting finds it very strange that nobody recognizes him. The police are not treating this as a crime right now, but officers are staying open to any possibilities.

The post-mortem confirmed his age range and height. It said he was around six feet tall and wore a “Zone 3 Agile” wetsuit that costs about £200. The wetsuit was an extra large size.

The man may have been taller, maybe six-foot-five. He probably weighed 14 to 15 stone, and his chest could have measured 44 to 48 inches.

The reservoir isn’t usually busy, not even in summer. Rhayader is the closest town, but still a half-hour drive away. The town attracts cyclists and walkers often.

Police checked missing persons cases with other forces and did forensic work, locally and elsewhere. Law enforcement partners also helped, but they still could not identify the man.

Police ask anyone visiting the reservoir between July and October 18 to contact them. Share any information with the local authorities, because even small details might help solve this mystery.
