Major safety upgrades coming to the A41 Warwick Road, including speed cameras and new crossings, after resident concerns.

The A41 Warwick Road is a key route, going from Solihull to Acocks Green. Residents complained about speeding and traffic.
Solihull Council secured funding from the government for the A41 Warwick Road safer roads. Fatal crashes happened there in recent years. A video of a car accident went viral last year.
The road safety plan had a six-week public review with over 1,100 people participating online. Now, eight improvements will happen on the A41.
They will install average speed cameras along the road, and there will be a humped zebra crossing on Seven Star Road where the speed limit will drop to 30 mph.
The plan includes a new pedestrian crossing phase at Warwick Road/Seven Star Road. An uncontrolled crossing will become a zebra crossing near Wadleys Road and the nursing home.
Another change removes an unsafe crossing, directing people to use the A41 / Hampton Lane crossing. New reflective road markings are planned as well. Finally, an education program will address road safety risks.
Most residents supported the proposed changes, particularly the speed cameras and new crossings. One busy junction will not change right now. Leaders hope for a safer environment on Solihull roads.
Council members appreciate the work and are glad issues are being addressed, especially liking the average speed cameras as speeding has been a big worry. The council wants more funds for this type of work. They agreed to start the safety project at the meeting on February 17.
