Police in West Lothian caught drivers using phones and driving under the influence during road checks.
Local police did road checks for this problem. They had patrols this last weekend. Seven drivers got caught doing bad things. These were serious road traffic offences, for sure.
The police did these checks in a few towns. Livingston, Linlithgow, Uphall, and Broxburn all saw action. One man got arrested by the officers, and two drivers lost their cars. Others received traffic tickets from police.
Officers caught people doing bad things. These things included driving unlicensed and driving without insurance on their cars. Some drove while feeling drugged. Then, some used phones when driving, being careless too.
Police warned several people, charging some for those crimes. Police reported some to the Procurator Fiscal. Others could perhaps lose driving privileges.
Some drivers also got tickets for poor parking. That parking reportedly endangered walkers nearby. Other drivers heard driving tips from police officers. Police offered advice about vehicle conditions too.
Police also talked to drivers at “car meets”. They reminded those drivers about safe driving rules, and drivers need consideration for others on the road. Drivers also require consideration for those who live there.
Sergeant Lee Brodie spoke about the action. He said many drivers drove well, and they maintained vehicles to correct standards, too. Most drivers cooperated showing respect for police. They know the need to drive safely, for people.
He said a few drivers were driving unsafely. Officers acted fast to enforce rules and removed bad drivers and cars from roads. This happened immediately when it was necessary.
