West London’s 235 bus route is overloaded. Children and elderly face difficulty boarding. Petition calls for double-decker buses.

Locals started a petition about this problem, wanting double-decker buses on the 235 route. Gareth Roberts shared the petition at a meeting at City Hall on February 13.
Roberts said the bus fills fast as it goes from Sunbury to other places. He noted problems between Sunbury and Hounslow. Over 500 people signed the petition so far, and the 235 bus goes to Brentford and Feltham too.
TfL data shows many people use this bus, showing it had 5.3 million trips from April 2023 to April 2024. The number of riders increased recently; there were 4.6 million trips the year before that. The 235 bus is busier than Zone 1 buses.
Rosie Trew works for TfL and knows that buses are very important. TfL wants people to rely on the bus system. Trew stated they value feedback a lot and want to fix local issues.
TfL is working with the local area to improve the bus system. They want good value for Londoners too.
