A taxi driver was shot in West Belfast. Police are investigating the daylight attack seeking public assistance.

The police held a briefing on Monday and asked for the public’s help. Detectives need information about the attack. They said more violence will not solve the problem.
Two masked people shot the taxi driver on Sunday around 10:30 am in Bell Street Manor in Dunmurry. The men shot into a white Skoda taxi. The 49-year-old driver got shot twice.
He then walked to a taxi depot, and police took him to the hospital. He is stable. The suspects ran away before police arrived.
One wore dark clothes, and the other wore a yellow coat. The shooting happened in daylight in a neighborhood, and the gunmen did not care about the community’s safety.
Police are still investigating at Bell Street Manor and know the community is shocked. There will be more police there. Police want to find those responsible for this shocking crime, they claim.
They will follow the evidence to find the people and need the public’s help to do so. The police are still at Bell Street Road and in Bell Street Manor. They ask anyone who saw anything to contact them.
Even small details could help. Detective Chief Inspector Quinn said to call 101 and mention reference 664 from 2/23/25. There will be more police in West Belfast.
Quinn said it is too soon to know why. They will work to find the shooters, and she reminded that the investigation is very new. Police asked people to ignore rumors online and want people with real information to speak up instead.
Quinn pleaded that retaliation will not help. Quinn said the driver is lucky to be alive and also said people like the shooters do not belong in society. She explained that the answers are in the community and urged people to come forward with information.
