Two Waverley experts detail their experiences working on the famous steamer, in a special talk in Glasgow.

Captain Dominic McCall and Andrew Comrie will speak. Andrew is the Chief Purser. They will be at the Renfield Centre on Bath Street. The Paddle Steamer Preservation Society hosts it. The talk begins at 7:15 PM on February 20, Thursday.
Captain McCall said it’s a privilege to command Waverley. He wants to explain sailing the ship. He also wants folks to know about planning trips. Teamwork keeps Waverley sailing. Support from people is very important too.
Andrew will discuss his time on the ship. He’ll share highlights and challenges he faced. Things don’t always go as planned.
Andrew says each day on Waverley is unique. Passengers come from many ports. It’s amazing what happens behind the scenes. He looks forward to sharing experiences. He has worked four years by the smokestacks.
The event is free to attend for everyone. A short Q&A will follow the talk. You can get Waverley’s 2025 schedule.
Waverley is in Glasgow now being fixed up. 2025 is the 50th year of Waverley sailing. This is a preservation milestone.
Sailings begin May 16 on the Clyde river. Then the ship heads to Oban. After that, it visits the Inner Hebrides islands.
