Okay, so there’s a big problem on a Merseyside road. It happened this morning because a water pipe burst, and Elephant Lane in St Helens is closed completely.

The road closure spans from Sutton Heath Road to Sherdley Road. Both of those roads are supposedly affected too, and traffic is getting worse in Thatto Heath according to AA

Road work on Elton Heath Road makes the situation even harder. United Utilities knows about the burst pipe incident. Their website mentions some homes have no water right now.

Customers called about discolored tap water, and the water company addressed these complaints online. They state the issue comes from water main disruptions. Sediments built up inside the pipes over time.

Repairs or replacements stirred up this sediment. It makes the water look bad, but is likely safe. Run the cold tap until it clears up to fix it.

Arriva buses are taking different routes to avoid the works. Service 33 goes as normal until Sutton Road. Then, the bus will turn right at Elephant Lane to resume its route, missing parts of Sutton Road, Elton Head Road, and Sherdley Road.

Inrix reports Elephant Lane is closed in both directions due to the burst water main from Sutton Heath Road to Sherdley Road. Sutton Heath Road and Sherdley Road also have impacts.
