An 84-year-old man is fighting for his life after a dog attack in Warrington. Police shot two dogs and arrested a woman.

The man, age 84, was walking nearby when the dog, possibly an XL Bully, attacked him. Police believe the dog escaped a nearby house.
Armed police came and killed the dog outside and a second dog inside the house. A smaller dog got seized too. Police fired 19 shots due to the dogs’ size.
The man is still in the hospital in critical, but stable condition. His injuries are being called “life changing” and will affect him forever.
Police arrested a 29-year-old woman for having a dangerous dog. She is now released on bail, and they also want to find a 40-year-old person.
A neighbor named Vic saw the attack and the man on the ground. Vic initially thought the man had a heart attack, but then he saw the large dog attacking.
Vic grabbed a yard brush to fight the dog, but it didn’t stop even when he hit it. Vic wishes he had grabbed a knife and asked a neighbor to call the police.
Police told everyone to go inside. Vic watched the police shoot the dog and said it was a horrible thing to witness and that he feels traumatized.
Police took Vic’s brush as evidence. A forensics team took it from the property.
Chief Constable Mark Roberts spoke about the attack calling XL Bullies “weapons.” He said Cheshire police are enforcing new rules and have already removed over 100 XL Bullies. They want to hold owners accountable.
Police ask anyone with information to contact them referencing case IML 2034464. The government has information on XL Bully dog laws, which you can find online.
