Wandsworth plans to freeze core council tax, keeping it the city’s lowest. Rise only for adult social care.

The council tax will rise by 2% in April, which covers adult social care costs. A higher rise would have needed a referendum. Most Wandsworth homes pay £990 total, including the London Mayor’s share.
The core bill share is planned to stay frozen for three years. They want to help vulnerable locals, despite rising social care and homeless needs. They aim to care for the elderly and support the NHS.
The council says staff will answer calls quickly, and they will fix potholes and signs rapidly, with a target of just seven days to fix these problems. More mega skip days are planned next year.
They offer two free waste collections per home. Waste and recycling collections will remain weekly. Parks and public spaces are scheduled to receive upgrades.
Wandsworth’s bill is much lower than Kingston’s, which is looking at a £2,489 bill in 2025/26. The Wandsworth plan purportedly saves almost £1,500.
Some in west Wandsworth pay a levy. Their total council tax will be £1,030 in 2025/26. The council plans to share a complete tax breakdown soon, showing the tax for each band.
The council leader says the tax will stay frozen. He stated that Wandsworth has the lowest rate and that sound finance guides everything they do, allowing investment in local priorities.
