A walker fell 65ft at an old quarry in southern Snowdonia. Several emergency teams responded quickly to the site located above Dinas Mawddwy. Ambulance staff arrived first, with Wales Air Ambulance medics also present.

The Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team also responded, tasked with extracting the man from the difficult terrain. A land ambulance waited nearby for the injured walker.

Twelve team members hiked uphill quickly. They carefully carried the man down steep areas, completing the rescue mission by 7pm.

The walker arrived at the ambulance and was moved using a stretcher. He went to the hospital on Saturday, March 1. The team hopes he recovers soon and returns to the hill.

Minllyn slate quarry, a well-known mine near Dinas Mawddwy, started in the late 1700s. It worked on and off until 1925. People can reach it by climbing steeply. It has many old structures above ground, and a stone tunnel remains as well.

With more visitors going to the national park, mountain rescue teams face higher pressure. A new plan asks local lodging to give safety tips to hikers before they venture out.
