Emergency services rushed to the scene, and two air ambulances arrived to transport the girl to a hospital. Police later confirmed that she died there.

Greater Manchester Police gave an update stating they want to find the driver. Police confirmed that the van struck the tram, which pushed it onto the pavement, and then hit the girl.

The police are now investigating. Mosley Street, Booth Street, and Nicholas Street are closed. The driver ran away, and police are now seeking him.

Assistant Chief Constable Parker expressed condolences, calling it a very sad event. Their investigation continues, but they don’t think there’s more danger.
