Some Leicestershire planning applications sparked lots of complaints. Councils shared data on the most unpopular plans. Oadby and Wigston Council didn’t give information. We will cover top concerns for each area.

Blaby District Council faced many planning objections. The most hated plan involved building houses on a Blaby golf course. Hallam Land Management wants to build 200 homes there; a decision is still pending.

Blaby also had complaints about four housing estates. One plan included 170 homes near Leicester and Boston Roads. People filed 701 objections, but the plan was ultimately approved. Another plan featured 185 homes east of Willoughby Road.

That housing plan received 612 objections before getting approved. Locals heavily protested a plan for 41 homes off Gillam Butts. The council has delayed that decision for now.

Leicester City Council received 362 objections to a building change application. The applicant wanted to create a worship place with yoga and meditation. Neighbors were concerned about potential parking and noise issues, leading to the council’s rejection of the plan.

A chicken farm in Tilton on the Hill wants to transform into a holiday park. Brayden James proposes building 45 lodges on Launde Road. People filed 257 complaints against it with Harborough Council, and Alicia Kearns MP called it “inappropriate.” There is no decision yet.

In Market Bosworth, 211 people objected to 100 homes with a plan submitted by Gladman to Hinckley and Bosworth Council. Miller Homes wants 135 houses nearby, while Richborough Estates hopes for 130 more homes.

A group, Protect Diseworth, formed to fight a project. A warehouse near East Midlands Airport caused 130 complaints. The airport owner argues it will create many local jobs but the council has yet to decide. The East Midlands Freeport includes this area.

Melton Council approved a new home on Asfordby Road. It received 79 objections prior to approval. People worried it would block sunlight and reduce privacy, and the Council initially called it a “carbuncle.”

Thrussington saw 75 objections to 26 new homes planned for Hoby Road. Someone previously described other houses as “fortress-style.” The council has not decided on the new housing plan.

A new quarry in Lutterworth drew nine objections. It would replace Shawell Quarry with gravel. Leicestershire Council handles quarries and similar projects, but hasn’t decided on this quarry plan.
