Cops are going undercover to catch thieves. It’s happening in West Yorkshire towns. Police want to stop retail theft this way, focusing on Batley and Spen in Kirklees.

Undercover patrols already worked well. They detained a man on February 14th and he got banned from a Birstall store. Officers also stopped two suspicious people, making them leave the same store.

More undercover work is planned in several communities, including Heckmondwike, Birstall, and Liversedge. Heckmondwike cops increase supermarket patrols.

They target theft and related bad behavior to keep shops and centers safer. Plain clothes patrols can be very effective.

Thieves should worry because these patrols can happen anytime; an officer could be watching nearby. If you know about shoplifting, report it. Call 101 or use the police website. You can report anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
