A British mom was found guilty of terrorism; her kids were taken away. She planned to join ISIS in the Middle East.

Police searched Farishta Jami’s home. The 36-year-old had awful things there. She kept files about weapons and thousands of videos showed kids in terror attacks.
The dinner lady saved £1,200. She wanted one-way flights to Afghanistan, claiming she would visit family. Police said she wanted to be a martyr and planned to join ISIS-K with her kids. ISIS-K is linked to Islamic State.
The court convicted her on February 13th at Leicester Crown Court. The charges came from a 2006 law, Section 5 of the Terrorism Act.
Police checked Jami’s home and devices. She researched weapons in detail and learned how to build an AK-47. She had around 7,000 saved videos; some showed child suicide bombers.
She shared violent content online and joined terror support group chats. The content was extremist and very disturbing. Police found devices and SIM cards hidden in a bag by her bed, along with cash and hidden passports.
Police Superintendent Darren Webster commented on it, stating it was a complex case mixing terrorism and crimes. He said the outcome was greatly welcomed and Jami’s actions could have harmed people. He added that they prevented something bad, and West Midlands Police helped.
Detective Chief Superintendent Alison Hurst also spoke, noting Jami wanted to travel in July 2023. By November, she had much cash, confirming she wanted to travel. She searched for flights often, over two weeks, 22 times in total.
Many searches involved one-way tickets for her and her children. Jami wanted to join ISIS, though she claimed she planned to visit family. Police found no trip plans, nor did they find any family contact about a visit.
Jami will be sentenced on February 14th.
