Hey, I have some sad news to share with you. Two men died in a car crash last night. The crash happened on the A66 road, near the Long Newton interchange.

The crash involved two cars: a black Nissan Qashqai and a red Vauxhall Astra. Emergency crews arrived around 9 p.m. on February 11, but sadly, crews pronounced two men dead at the scene.

Police said a 41-year-old and an 84-year-old died in the accident. Due to the severity of the crash, the road was closed for over eight hours to allow emergency services to work and officers to investigate the scene carefully.

Earlier, police asked drivers to use other routes around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, stating the road would be closed for hours. Later, police reopened the road around 5 a.m. and thanked drivers for their patience.

Police are asking for help from the public. They are looking for information about the crash, asking if anyone saw anything before, witnessed the crash itself, or has dashcam video. If you have any information, please call 101 and use reference number 25064.
