Two men, ages 41 and 84, died in a two-car crash on the A66 near Long Newton. The road was closed for hours.

The crash involved two cars: a black Nissan Qashqai and a red Vauxhall Astra. Emergency crews arrived around 9 p.m. on February 11, but sadly, crews pronounced two men dead at the scene.
Police said a 41-year-old and an 84-year-old died in the accident. Due to the severity of the crash, the road was closed for over eight hours to allow emergency services to work and officers to investigate the scene carefully.
Earlier, police asked drivers to use other routes around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, stating the road would be closed for hours. Later, police reopened the road around 5 a.m. and thanked drivers for their patience.
