People near the A470 in Wales are having trouble. A retaining wall by the road collapsed last October, and roadworks started. The A470 closed for repairs in January and will stay closed until April.

A detour exists, but some drivers ignore it. Small cars sometimes use local lanes, but big trucks also try these shortcuts. Trucks get stuck and must reverse, which damages roads and things.

A truck going from Belfast to Bridgend got stuck in Dolfach on Thursday night. This has occurred before, as some trucks are very large, and some drivers don’t know the road.

Locals say drivers should read signs and joke about needing an eye doctor. A road sweeper will clean Talerddig to Bont road, and workers with lights will stop trucks from entering, beginning Monday.

One person called a driver who blocked the road an “idiot” because he could not read the signs. Another driver blocked a road in Bont Dolgadfan, and one person was stuck behind him. The driver claimed a local told him to go that way.

Someone else waited an hour to get home to Pennant. A man said the road is not right for trucks. People hope the new measures will help, and trucks need to use the detour instead.
