Three people were arrested then released on bail in connection with a Scot’s disappearance in England 23 years ago.

The three people include two men in their forties and fifties, and a woman in her forties was also arrested. This arrest relates to Robert Scott Clive’s disappearance, and police made the arrests on Saturday.
Robert vanished after a night out in North Shields in October 2002. He was thirty years old then, and he had moved from Stranraer ten months before this.
Police never found Robert’s body, and they believe that Robert is dead now. Detectives are treating it as murder, a detail they previously confirmed.
Police raided a North Shields address on Coronation Street. Evidence suggests Robert had been there before, and a CID tent is at the scene. Police taped off the property since Tuesday last week.
Police officers asked neighbors questions, believing he was at the address before he disappeared in 2002. The current occupant has moved, and they moved after Robert went missing.
His Dumfries and Galloway family first reported him missing back in 2002, as they had not heard from him for days. The case was unsolved for a long time. However, in 2008, a witness spoke up, claiming they saw a man enter the River Tyne the day after Robert vanished, and he matched his description.
Police searched the river for his body but did not find it. Last June, police arrested a 49-year-old man, later releasing him on bail as more inquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Mark Atherton leads the case and wants to give Robert’s family answers. He thinks locals have information that could solve what happened to Robert.
Atherton urges people to share information, especially those who lived on Coronation Street, to contact police. If they know about Robert’s movements, they should come forward as the information could prove key.
A police spokesperson confirmed the bail. The three arrested are out on bail, pending further police inquiries into the case.
