Three men are going to prison for life. They killed a dad in a drive-by shooting outside his girlfriend’s house in Kirkby on July 17th last year. Rikki Berry, the dad, was shot three times.

Michael Smith, Adam Williams, and Connor Walsh were convicted of murder. The judge called it a “cold blooded” act and highlighted their possession of a firearm with intent to endanger. The sentencing took place on February 18th.

Smith and Williams received life sentences each facing at least 31 years in jail. Walsh also got a life sentence and needs to serve at least 30 years. His DNA was on a bullet casing, placing him in the car.

The men showed no reaction to their sentences. The judge said they worked together, planning to kill Mr. Berry in what he described as an execution in broad daylight on a residential street with families.

Williams and Walsh claimed they knew nothing and didn’t plan any execution. Smith admitted manslaughter and firearm possession during the trial, but said he only meant to scare, not hurt Mr. Berry.

Smith’s lawyer said he has a partner and kids. William’s lawyer noted his lack of violence, while Walsh’s lawyer highlighted his clean record, age, and seven-year-old child. The judge declared the attack a group effort, with Williams playing a leading role, and maintained they all meant to kill Rikki Berry.
