Sam Perkins, a Nottingham Forest fan who battled MND and raised £250,000 for research, has sadly passed away.

Sam started a charity called Stand Against MND, which has raised £250,000 for research. Celebrities like Chrissie Wellington and Vicky McClure, an actor, support it. MND is a disease that stops muscles from working and often leads to the need for wheelchairs. Many also die sooner than expected, with a 50% chance of dying within two years.
Sam was determined to live his life fully and wanted to enjoy things despite his diagnosis. He loved Nottingham Forest and had a ticket near the Brian Clough Stand. The soccer team posted a tribute to Sam online, calling him an inspiration, and stating that his work will always be remembered by the team.
Sam created the Fifty50 campaign, hoping to find 50 people who would each try to raise at least £500. This would total £25,000 for MND research, but the amount actually doubled to £50,000. Many people helped fundraise for Sam’s cause.
Sam’s charity, Stand Against MND, also honored him and spoke about his courageous fight. He raised needed research funds and became an important ambassador for finding a cure. Forza Garibaldi, a Forest supporters group, mourned Sam and admired how he lived after his diagnosis.
His Stand Against MND campaign inspired them, and Sam’s bravery will continue to inspire those who knew him. Sam stayed a devoted Forest fan and frequently went to games. He was happy about the team’s success, and it is sad he cannot watch them now.
His group has raised over £250,000 to date, and they send support to his wife, Emma, and family. They should feel proud of Sam’s legacy, as he took a brave stand against MND. His death was confirmed on February 9th.
