Man’s railway trespass caused major disruption, costing taxpayers over £550,000. Police seek information to aid investigation.

This caused major train disruptions, with sixteen trains fully cancelled that day. Fifty-four more trains were partially cancelled. Network Rail estimates delays cost over £550,000.
Network Rail says railways are very dangerous places where trespassing is illegal and risky. It also creates much disruption to the network. Stopping trains keeps people safe when trespassing occurs, and delays quickly happen, especially in busy areas.
The incident significantly disrupted service, costing taxpayers over half a million pounds. Network Rail is working with British Transport Police (BTP) to stop this behavior and asks for information to aid their investigation.
