A 28-year-old woman died after falling 65 feet on Tryfan in Eryri National Park, North Wales. Friends are raising money to repatriate her.

Maria was 28 years old and studied civil engineering at the University of Salford. People remember her as ambitious, bright, and cherished by many.
The accident occurred on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Emergency services responded quickly; however, they could not save her life.
Friends started a JustGiving page, hoping to return Maria to Bulgaria where her family lives. So far, they’ve raised over £15,000. Victoria Critchley organized the fundraiser to support Maria’s family, who face significant costs bringing her home and giving her a proper farewell.
Maria loved extreme sports, with snowboarding being her biggest passion. She eagerly awaited a trip to Austria, where she wanted to snowboard again.
Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue tried to save Maria and did everything they could. The rescue team also expressed their gratitude to those who helped. The rescue team reported that Maria fell while a group climbed the north ridge. Passers-by secured her, and a team member started CPR, but sadly, she did not survive.
Another tragedy occurred recently in Eryri when a woman fell on Glyder Fach on Sunday, February 16 and also died from her injuries. The rescue team sends thoughts to both families.
