A postman in his 60s was severely injured in Kilcommon by two Alsatian dogs while delivering mail last Thursday.
He was delivering mail last Thursday in Kilcommon. The two dogs attacked him there. Sources state he is in his 60s, and the dogs bit his legs and lower body. A source said the dogs “devoured” him, suggesting the attack was severe. He thought it was safe.
The dogs came from behind the house as he was delivering the post. He managed to get to a neighbor’s house, where he then called for help.
An Post knows about the incident. They confirmed it was a serious dog attack and that the authorities are handling it now. They can’t say more at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
A retired nurse provided initial assistance. Emergency services then arrived, and paramedics treated him nearby before an ambulance took him to the hospital.

The man in his 60s sustained injuries that are not life-threatening and was taken to University Hospital Limerick. Police have spoken to the dog owner, and vets will put the dogs down. The police are still investigating the incident.
