The victim, Rikki Berry, was shot dead last year. The shooter was riding an electric bike and wore a balaclava. Berry was outside his girlfriend’s place.
Michael Smith, Adam Williams, and Connor Walsh were on trial for Berry’s murder. They also faced firearm possession charges. The jury found them guilty on both counts Friday.
Family members reacted emotionally in court. The sentencing is scheduled for Tuesday, where each will get a life sentence. The judge will decide the minimum term.
Williams admitted he drove the getaway car, a black SUV, during the drive-by shooting. He claimed no knowledge of a murder plot, while another passenger said Berry shouted at them.
Walsh’s DNA was found on a bullet casing and the gun magazine. Later, Walsh returned to where the crime occurred and took his son and nephew with him on bikes.
Smith admitted to manslaughter and firearm possession earlier in the trial. He didn’t testify, but his lawyer claimed Smith only intended to scare Berry versus harming him.
