Two thieves broke into a house. Police caught them nearby, just 150 metres away. The court jailed them for multiple burglaries, which happened across the Essex border. The crooks also committed crimes in Redbridge and Chadwell Heath.

Police responded to a break-in on Mansted Gardens in Chadwell Heath on Sunday, December 15. Officers arrived quickly, around 30 minutes after the call, and blocked the thieves’ escape. The thieves ran onto the High Road. A foot chase followed, ending with police catching and handcuffing the pair.

After the chase, officers searched the suspects and found stolen items, including rings, bangles, and three gold necklaces. These items were confirmed missing from the burgled house. Further investigation also linked them to other break-ins, including one at another house on Mansted Gardens where a safe containing £25,000 in gold and £3,000 in cash was stolen.

Geani Bogonos, 42, from Freshwell Avenue in Chadwell Heath, and Vasile Filip, 26, from Southend Road in East Ham, were sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday, February 3. They had pleaded guilty at their first court appearance.

Bogonos was convicted of two burglaries, with three other offences considered during sentencing. Filip was convicted of one burglary, with three more offences also considered. The offenses all took place in Redbridge between October and November 2024.
