TfL investigates a diesel spill in South London after fuel leaked. The spill entered the River Wandle, raising environmental concerns.

Fuel leaked from a storage tank there, apparently. The Environment Agency is also investigating it. They’re hurrying to clean it all up. About 4,000 liters of diesel went into the River Wandle. It got there via the drainage system, sadly.
A local expert thinks this will hurt wildlife. It could undo years of conservation efforts too. TfL also said bus service won’t be affected. Buses can get fuel elsewhere, you see. Safety and Engineering teams are helping Arriva. They are helping with their investigation.
TfL shared details with other bus operators, too. They want to avoid similar spills in the future. They know pollution is bad for London’s waterways. TfL wants to help stop river pollution. Dr. Jack Hogan spoke about the spill’s impact.
He thinks it’s the worst one since 2007. He said we won’t know the full damage yet. The damage could span many years. He told reporters that the efforts are just mitigation. These efforts are not complete clean up either. This is a tough problem, really.
