Housing development refused permission near Terenure College due to parking and traffic concerns by Dublin City Council.

Dublin City Council said no to this plan, citing worries about the area and unplanned parking issues. They believe cars would spill onto roads and buses would face delays.
The rejection happened on February 21. This was the second try for this project, as a bigger plan had failed before.
The Council explained their denial further, stating that residents’ travel needs are unmet and the parking is too little. They claimed this decision will harm the area, making traffic dangerous and blocking pedestrians and buses.
The Carmelite Order, linked to Terenure College, supported the project before allowing land use. They stated the school had enough land and expansion was still possible.
Fr. Simon Nolan, a Carmelite leader, explained the money would help the school and secure its future. He claimed the Carmelite Order would benefit, and their work in Ireland and beyond would gain. The school, fields, and pool are secure, he stated, emphasizing the land is no longer needed by them.
