Gwent Police arrest ten in Torfaen following raids related to child exploitation in Pontypool and Cwmbran.

The warrants are part of a complex investigation, focusing on child exploitation occurring in Pontypool and Cwmbran.
Police arrested ten people, including a 30-year-old man from Pontnewynydd, a 33-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man from Pontypool. They were arrested for human trafficking and drug supply.
The 33-year-old woman faces drug charges and is also charged with intent to supply drugs; she’s been remanded into custody. The 37-year-old man is out on bail now, and the 30-year-old man remains in police custody.
Seven teenagers, aged 14 to 18, were also arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs; all seven are released on bail. A 40-year-old man was arrested too and has been charged with assault for allegedly assaulting an emergency worker.
Detective Inspector Emma Coopey spoke about the operation, mentioning the involvement of multiple agencies. Social services, charities, education and youth services are helping to support the children and break the cycle of abuse.
