A police operation targeting commercial vehicles in Teesside uncovered 194 road offenses, focusing on safety and compliance.

Cleveland Police participated in a national campaign that lasted two weeks, from January 27 to February 9. Officers stopped 293 vehicles during this time. Eighty-one of these vehicles carried dangerous goods.
Many offenses were discovered: twenty-one vehicles had no insurance, five drivers lacked a valid license, and fifteen drivers weren’t driving safely. Nine drivers were disqualified, eight drivers weren’t wearing seatbelts, and twenty-six drivers were impaired by alcohol or drugs.
Police also found twenty-six vehicles with insecure loads, and eight vehicles had brake problems.
Inspector Dave Ridgway discussed road safety and stated Cleveland has many commercial routes. These routes see heavy traffic and dangerous materials as vehicles travel nationally and globally on them.
He stated safety is their duty, and they want fewer road deaths and injuries. National initiatives help achieve this.
