A 13-year-old girl was repeatedly stabbed with a sword by a 14-year-old boy during a camping trip near Hessle.

Police went to the area off Ferriby High Road and the A63. They found the girl with stab wounds. A fourteen-year-old boy stabbed her. Jurors heard the injuries were horrific; she was lucky to survive.
The boy and girl were part of a group of seven teens who camped near Hessle. The boy is accused of attempted murder. He used a large sword, similar to a Samurai sword.
The boy, now fifteen, denies attempted murder. He admits wounding the girl and possessing the sword. He had no valid reason for the weapon.
The prosecutor, David Lamb KC, said the boy attacked the girl with a Kortada sword, like a Samurai sword. The boy inflicted ten stab wounds to her chest, back, neck, and arms. The girl almost died from these injuries. The incident occurred on Halloween evening at a fifteen-year-old girl’s home.
Another girl, fifteen then and now sixteen, brought a Kortada sword. She showed the sword to the group. The defendant was among them. Everyone, including the defendant, touched the sword and removed it from its sheath.
The prosecutor says the defendant knew its power. The group walked to a field after midnight, carrying camping gear and tents. The fifteen-year-old girl still had the sword in her bag. The stabbed girl felt unsafe later, worried because of the sword. They reached the campsite behind the Humber View Hotel, close to the Humber Bridge in woods.
A fifteen-year-old girl insulted the thirteen-year-old girl. The younger girl wanted to leave and asked a boy to guide her back. The defendant caught up to them and whispered to the boy, who said the defendant would escort her.
The prosecutor says this was a plan. The defendant wanted to isolate the girl. He hid the sword in his waistband. She saw him adjusting his jacket and pulling out the sword. She ran away, scared, and shouted at him to leave.
He chased after her instead and pushed her to the ground. She was on her back, kicking and screaming, begging him to stop. The prosecutor said the boy stood over her, pushed her to the ground, crouched down, and spoke.
He said sorry and that he had to do it. He then attacked her with the sword. He stabbed her while pinning her down, causing bruises on her neck from him restraining her.
She had ten stab wounds on her back, chest, stomach, and neck, as well as wounds on her head, knee, and arm. The prosecutor said the attack was constant and he used the weapon to try to kill her.
She went to Leeds General Hospital’s high dependency ward. A forensic expert said the injuries were life-threatening; a chest wound could have been fatal. The trial continues.
