Connor Malbon, 17, found with a kilo of cannabis in his bedroom, claims it was for back pain. Now 19, gets community order.

Connor, age 17 then, held drugs for a dealer and, in return, he got weed for himself. Now, at 19, he received a community order at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
In March 2023, the police searched Connor’s home. They found two bags of cannabis there: one bag with 13.1 grams and another holding 947 grams. Police also found £440 in cash.
Connor admitted he had drugs to sell. He said he held the 947 grams for someone else, but would not say who, to be picked up later. He received some weed as payment, and the 13.1 grams were what was left of his payment.
Connor has health problems, and his mother cares for him. He uses cannabis to help his back pain, which he started using it even before the pain began. Meanwhile, Connor’s lawyer said he was 17 in 2023 and that he had no past crimes.
Connor must do rehab for 15 days and participate in a six-month drug program. Plus, he has a three-month curfew from 7 PM to 7 AM.
The judge noted that police found a lot of cannabis, worth around £9,000, and that Connor used it to ease his back pain, something he had been doing for years.
The judge emphasized that cannabis is an illegal drug that can harm mental and physical health. It also hurts the community when people hold drugs for dealers. The dealers profit from others’ problems. The judge ordered that the drugs must be destroyed.
