A teen tragically died after a fall. The accident happened at a construction site. It was located in North Yorkshire.

Harry William Calam was just 19. He died in York’s city center early on June 24, 2024. He had climbed some scaffolding.

The inquest took place on Friday, February 21. Harry climbed scaffolding in Davygate and then got onto the roof. The roof had different levels.

He spent about 15 minutes exploring and moving between roof levels. Afterward, he fell to his death, and they found him unresponsive. Paramedics confirmed his death at 4:40 AM.

An investigation started on June 26, 2024. The official inquest opened on July 9.

Assistant coroner Alison Norton signed the inquest record. It stated Harry entered a construction site, climbed scaffolding onto the roof, moved around for about 15 minutes, and then fell from the building into the yard. Paramedics confirmed his death at 4:40 AM.

She confirmed the cause of death was a traumatic brain injury and recorded the death as misadventure.

Senior coroner Jonathan Heath submitted a cause, saying Harry fell from scaffolding last July. The provisional cause was a brain injury.

Friends posted tributes on social media about Harry’s accident in York. One friend said they were heartbroken and that he would be missed.

Harry was Richard and Eileen’s son, a grandson, nephew, and cousin. They all loved him very much.
