Teen in custody after crash on Northumberland Coastal Route leaves woman seriously injured. Police seek witnesses.
Police received a call on Tuesday around 3:30 PM regarding a crash on the A1068 road near Widdrington. A black Ford Focus, heading east, went off the road and flipped over.
Emergency crews arrived promptly to investigate the accident. A woman in her thirties, possibly from Ashington, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries; her condition remains serious.
An eighteen-year-old has been arrested and is in custody. The charge is dangerous driving causing serious injury. Police are requesting assistance from any witnesses who may have seen the crash.
