Teen Accidentally Cuts Artery With Samurai Sword After Mall Stabbing
They went from Worcester to Stourbridge wanting to fight someone. They had a sword and knife, turning the mall into what looked like a war zone.
The victim got stabbed six times. He escaped the lift and yelled for help, saying he was stabbed and needed assistance. One attacker sat in blood with the sword stuck out of his leg.
He tried to hide the sword but stabbed himself after hurting his victim. The attack happened on March 15, 2022, when both boys were 14.
One boy had a very dangerous samurai sword. He had argued with the victim before the fight. The second boy had a hunting knife, and both boys knew a fight would happen.
Around 5:30 PM, they got in a lift and fought with a group of teens. The victim, a 15-year-old, was with four friends and was stabbed in the arm, butt, and thigh.
Police received many calls about the stabbing and found the victim outside. He said there was pushing in the lift, and his friends left him with the attackers.
The boys then left the lift. One hid the sword under his clothes because people were nearby, hurting himself in the process.
Officers found him with serious injuries, having cut an artery in his leg. He lost much blood, and the sword was still stuck in his leg. People helped to stop his bleeding.
He was flown to the hospital due to being in bad shape for days. He needed surgeries to save his leg. The second boy ran away, dropped the knife, and then went back to the mall.
One boy’s lawyer spoke about his mental health but the judge didn’t agree, stating that taking a sword to fight is wrong. The lawyer said the victim picked on him before and that the boy wasn’t looking to hurt him, but brought the sword expecting something to occur.
The boy has autism and had a hard life, being bullied by kids. He now wants to attend college and had a wake-up call, with his family wanting him healthy and on track.
The other boy wants to be a mechanic and is from a supportive family. They don’t approve of what he did.
The judge called the stabbing horrible and said it looked like a war zone. He stated that they planned the fight and brought weapons to Stourbridge.
The judge said this happens too often in the West Midlands, where youths go to other towns with weapons and fight in public, scaring common people.
Both boys, now 17, were found guilty of attacking someone and possessing a weapon. They are now in a juvenile detention center for 30 months.
The judge said they are equally guilty. He spoke to the sword-injured boy about the public place, the violence, and how settling things violently is bad.
