Tameside Council’s 2024 crackdown addressed fly-tipping and counterfeit goods. It aims to enhance public safety and protect businesses.

Council staff worked hard in 2024. They tackled 10,000 public safety cases. These actions aimed to keep Tameside clean. They prosecuted sixteen fly-tippers and issued 345 fines for trash issues.
Trading Standards also had a busy year. They investigated 101 scams and prosecuted fourteen cases. They looked into 19 underage sales too. They seized many illegal items.
Specifically, 7,953 illegal vapes got seized. They also grabbed over 200,000 illegal cigarettes and found over 43kg of illegal tobacco.
Selling illegal smokes hurts everyone. It helps criminal groups thrive and hurts honest businesses. It makes it easier for kids to get tobacco and can also damage people’s health.
The council wants everyone to help keep neighborhoods clean. They thanked everyone for their help.
The local government did many other things. They did 153 food inspections, managed 591 service requests, and finished 71 “Buy With Confidence” checks.
Environmental health officers also stayed busy. They did 955 hygiene inspections for food and checked health and safety too. They responded to 1,649 complaints.
