St Helen’s ground could be redeveloped for over £5m, potentially hosting the Ospreys rugby team, pending certain conditions.

Council papers show spending plans of one million pounds set for this year, and another £4.1 million planned for next year; plus, £1 million will upgrade the cricket ground.
Swansea Cricket Club will relocate this August, and when asked about funding, Rob Stewart said the Ospreys deal involves investment recovery. The council will still own the ground.
The St Helen’s upgrade benefits many local teams and the community, and the Ospreys are excited about the project and stated that planning is advancing.
The council expects Ospreys to meet certain criteria, and once they are met, the redevelopment will start. Ospreys’ ownership invests in the club, and this investment will continue.
The Ospreys hope to move next winter, with phase one including a new pitch and plans to fix up the clubhouse. New stands could also be included.
A training area, including a gym and office space, could follow if things go well, and this area could be available for community use. Swansea rugby and the university will still play there, and councilors will decide on March 6.
