Council limits seafront parking to two hours near Southend and Hennebont Gardens, aiming to stop inconsiderate all-day use.

A rule started in November 2024, limiting parking to two hours from 8 AM to 8 PM. You cannot return within four hours in the Promenade Terrace area. The council may make it permanent, but will consider any objections first.
Some locals want people to object, worrying it could hurt tourism. However, the council’s goal is to stop “inconsiderate use,” referring to people parking for too long.
The council said they are trying new rules in Mumbles as part of the Mumbles Sea Defence work. This affects new parking spaces near local businesses, with parking time limited to help visitors, ensuring more people can use the spaces.
The council prevents all-day parking, as some cars parked all day, stopping normal use of the spaces. They consulted with businesses, locals, and council members, with most supporting the changes, feeling it helped tourism and trade.
The parking rules consider residents too, allowing them to use the spots late and overnight. The council is also looking at other parking needs as part of wider traffic plans for Mumbles.
